This limited-edition decaf coffee comes from Ethiopian producer

Tesfaye Bekele and his renowned Suke Quto farm. Tesfaye Bekele,

born into a coffee-farming family, initially pursued a career in

government, focusing on environmental work in the 1990s.

However, after devastating wildfires swept through his native

Guji region, his reforestation efforts led him back to coffee.

Determined to revive local coffee farming, Bekele encouraged

farmers to re-invest in the crop, even securing seedlings and

land in partnership with the Ethiopian government. Yet, due to

coffee’s long maturation period, farmer interest remained low .

Committed to proving its potential, Bekele took matters into his

own hands—leaving his government position to establish Suke Quto

farm and its washing station.

Today, Suke Quto receives coffee from 171 outgrowers across the

Guji region, all cultivated to organic and Rainforest Alliance

standards. Nestled in the high-altitude Odo Shakisso district,

at elevations of 1,800 meters and above, Suke Quto thrives in

nutrient-rich volcanic soil, enhanced through meticulous organic

composting. The mill’s water management system utilizesdedicated lagoons for responsible wastewater treatment, while

Bekele remains deeply committed to community

development—including the construction of a new school building

in a neighboring village.Swiss Water believes that coffee
